Dear Friends,
Just a few
days past World Refugee Day 2010, we
still find ourselves caught
in the midst of a growing crisis, which you may have seen in the news.
Since June 10, there has been a wide-spread and rapid
escalation of violence in Kyrgyzstan. Sadly about 180 people have already died
in just a week. More than 375,000 people have been forced to flee their homes to
save their lives and have sought safety in neighboring Uzbekistan, or are
displaced within Kyrgyzstan.
As of today, UNHCR has delivered 240
tonnes of aid to Uzbekistan. Members of our emergency response team are
already in country or en route to Kyrgyzstan.
This still leaves us with an urgent need. We require more
tents, blankets, stoves and other emergency items to provide much needed
assistance to people in need.
Please give what you can, to help the efforts of UNHCR. €52
can protect special groups, women and children; €80
can help provide a survival kit; and €160 buys
a lightweight tent to provide a family of five with shelter.
Thank you sincerely for your generosity and commitment.
Without you, many of the displaced people in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan will
continue to suffer. With your help, we can provide shelter, security and hope
until they have a chance to return home.
You can make a real difference right now.
Many thanks for your time, support and contribution.
